About Suzanne

Change happens through movement, and movement heals.” – Joseph Pilates

Suzanne began her dance and movement journey at the age of 5 when she took her first ballet class in Vancouver, Washington. She continued her dance training with Columbia Dance Ensemble and at the age of 15 she knew she wanted to pursue a career in all things dancing. After she received her Associates of Arts and Science degree from Clark College she was accepted into the Professional Division Program at Alvin Ailey American Dance Center in New York City where she received her Certificate of Dance. She has performed with dance ensembles in Oregon, New York and South Africa. Her teaching credits include faculty positions at Connecticut Dance Theatre, School at Steps, Ballet Hispanico and Pacific Northwest Ballet School where she currently teaches ballet and Pilates.

In 2003 Pilates helped Suzanne overcome a back injury and to avoid having surgery. This experience inspired her to become a Pilates teacher and receive her Pilates Mat Certification through Power Pilates and her full certification through STOTT Pilates. Suzanne is passionate about teaching Pilates and movement, and enjoys working with all populations. Suzanne feels so much joy and fullfilment when her clients make improvements in posture, alignment, strength and flexibility.

Some of her continuing education credits include Merrithew Fascial Movement Foundation Course, Athletic Training on the Reformer and Pilates for Neurological Disorders with Mariska Breland.

Suzanne also has a love for running outdoors. She has completed 4 half-marathons, and 2 full-marathons, including the NYC Marathon in 2018. Pilates is complimentary to her training and helps her stay injury free. Suzanne currently lives in Seattle with her husband, two daughters, and one dog.

“I have practiced Pilates for over 10 years now and with different instructors, and I can honestly say that Suzanne is one of my favorite instructors. She has a deep and thorough knowledge of Pilates, and she is such a nice person to work with- it makes for a perfect combination. One of the things I enjoy about working with Suzanne is that she varies the workout each time so they feel new and challenging. She pushes you the right amount so that you make improvements, but can sitll enjoy the movements. I can not recommend her highly enough, and I am confident you will love working with her!”
